Grid64 ("we," "us," or "our") provides a platform for chess tournament organizers to post tournaments and for players to find and register for them. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect user data.

  • Tournament Organizers: When creating an organizer account, we collect business details, as well as personal details such as name and email.

  • Players: We collect name, email, and other relevant details for tournament participation (e.g., grade level for scholastic tournaments or US Chess/FIDE information for rated tournaments). Chess federation IDs are publicly available information.

  • Children: Our app is not intended for users under 13. Parents, coaches, or other adults must register minors on their behalf.

  • Identity Verification: Organizers hosting cash-entry tournaments and users claiming a US Chess/FIDE account must verify their identity via ID and photo verification.

  • Automated Data Collection: We collect usage analytics, including IP addresses and device/browser information, to improve the product.

2. How We Use Data

  • To provide and improve the Grid64 platform.

  • To facilitate tournament registration and administration.

  • To share necessary tournament-related data with event organizers.

  • To verify user identity for secure transactions.

3. Data Retention

We retain data as necessary for the operation of the platform and tournament records. Organizers may delete tournaments, which removes associated data. Data shared with third parties (e.g., US Chess, FIDE) is outside our control.

4. User Rights

  • Users may request access to or deletion of their data.

  • Some personal data may be retained for tournament records.

  • We comply with applicable privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

5. Security Measures

We implement reasonable security practices, including encryption, role-based access controls, and periodic audits to protect user data.
